New Deployments

The governments of Syria (.sy) and Palestine (.ps) are to deploy the CoCCA software for their IDN and ASCII ccTLDs in Q1 of 2011. Earlier this year, Egypt deployed CoCCA software for .eg and their IDN TLD, ".masr". This will bring to three the number of Arabic language IDN TLDs using the CoCCA registry solution.

These TLD registries will be the 34th and 35th TLDs to adopt the CoCCA registry platform - further confirming the dominant position CoCCA's registry technology has assumed in the management of critical infrastructure.

If you are interested in using the open source CoCCA software for Arabic, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

New Technology

The following technical changes will be made to the registry systems for the AF | CX | GS | KI | NF | SB | TL ccTLDs over the next eight weeks:

Clearinghouse for Intellectual Property (CHIP) and Trademark (TM) EPP Extensions are now available in CoCCA versions 3.0.10+. The new CHIP codes and the CoCCA EPP TM Extensions are normally used only as part of a TLD Sunrise. CoCCA has chosen to allow trademark owners to retroactively ( or proactively ) associate trademark information with specific domains as a way of testing this new technology, and also to provide the public with additional registrant information.

Where TM information has been provided, it will be made available via the registry WHOIS and historical abstracts. New registrations made using CHIP codes between November 1, 2010 and February 1, 1020 will receive a 20% discount. It is hoped that this CHIP discount will provide registrars with a financial incentive to adopt these EPP Extensions.

"Nominated Agent" EPP Extensions for contact records will be available on the CoCCA Operational Testing and Evaluation (OT&E) registry starting November 15th, and will be in rolled into production January 1, 2010. These extensions are designed to allow registrants an elegant way to protect personal details from data-mining ( via the WHOIS server ) without resorting to "masking" their details. The new technology will be accompanied by policy changes which ensure that accurate and complete registrant and contact details are lodged by registrars.

Historical Abstracts for a domain ( complete history ) will be available for purchase as of December 1, 2010. These abstracts mirror company abstracts that might be available from a company’s office. They provide all historical, technical, and human information maintained in the register for a given domain.

AF | CX | GS | KI | NF | SB | TL Zones to be signed ( DNSSEC ) as of December 15, 2010: In addition to signing the TLD and Stub Zones , CoCCA EPP Extensions will allow registrars, registrants (or their nominated DNS Tech administrators ) to manage DNSSEC enabled hosts in the registry. These tools will advance DNSSEC by providing tools for Registrants to manage hosts directly in the registry, even in the event that their Registrar has not adopted DNSSEC.

These changes are being made to the registry systems for the ccTLDs listed above in order to ensure they continue to be operated in accordance with global best practices.

Registrars who desire technical information on the applicable EPP extensions or desire assistance testing them in OT&E should send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
